Samichlaus, Bänzejass and Frauentreffen Bazar in Jonkershoek
Since the club house in Green Point is no longer available it was decided to combine the traditional Samichlaus in Jonkershoek with the Bänzejass and also the Frauntreffen Bazar. This turned out to be quite a success and many people attended the event.

 

Spring Brunch September 2008

AND WHAT A SPRING BRUNCH THAT WAS !
It didn’t rain that Sunday! Spring was in the air. And a complimentary glass of Strawberry Punch in our hand. Our good old Club House greeted us resplendent in crisp white and red table decoration and Pincushion Proteas on every table. We didn’t have to wait long for Ernst Tobler to ring the cow bells: a wonderful Buendner Platter was served to each table. As for the next step: it is always good to be the first at the buffet to admire the lovingly decorated bowls and platters: Bircher Muesli with lots of fresh fruit, bacon and eggs and grilled garlic-tomato from Joseph’s counter, fruit salad, Emmentaler cheese, potato salad, veal loaf, lots of different breads, jam and honey, meat balls, quiches and cheese tartlets, and these huge Party Breads sponsored by Fairview, together with the most delicious Camemberts. Swiss background music, accentuated by the sound of popping champagne corks, kept everyone happy and in a festive mood for many hours, with the children running around outside despite a strong wind. And then the “side-buffet” was opened with a never ending supply of cakes: chocolate and carrot, Gugelhupf and fruit-flan, and more coffee. When the run for the savoury buffet started all over again, we thought this a good time to leave. Thanks to all who made this Sunday such a memorable Spring-day.

 

Swiss National Day 1 August 2008

The Swiss National Day this year had to be celebrated at the Italian Club due to the uncertain availability of our own Club house.
